Want more blog traffic? Before you post, stop and ask yourself — who would want to read this? What would they search for if they were looking for something like this? Then, use those words in your post title.

See, when search engine robots see your blog title, they assume that’s what your post is about. Literally. To a robot, your post title is a string of keywords. So, if you have a cute or clever title, those words are what robots will think your post is about.

Robots also see the first and last paragraph of text as most important. They read the way press release writers are supposed to write. Start out by getting to the point. Then add details. Then summarize the point. So use those same keywords in your first and last paragraph of text. If the post is long, sprinkle the words through the post, too. Just make sure you don’t sound moronic to human readers.

It will feel strange, at first, to write that way. But, it’s like anything new. You get used to it after a while. 21 repeats and it becomes habit.

If you want more blog traffic, it helps to use search engine friendly titles. Try it and tell me what happens!

    Yes indeed I have incorporated this method into my own bag of tricks. I don’t always do it but if I am gunning for a keyword then YES I will do it. Great tip.

    I know you don’t ALWAYS do it. That’s why I nag you when you forget. When you DO seo your titles, it shows in your Google traffic. : )

    Hiya, sorry to ask this here but… I really love your theme, would it happen to be a free one i can download somewhere, or is it a custom theme you had made? Soon i will be launching my own blog, however i’m not great with designs but i do like the style of your site so it would be excellent if i could find (or buy) something with a similar look as my last designer cannot finish my site. :) Thanks!

    Hi Burton… thanks for the compliment, glad you like! It started out as a free theme, but I changed it considerably to make it look like this. My plan was to get it ready and share it as a free download… check back and I’ll try have it posted soon, okay? Just check the right sidebar — the blank space under themes. lol.
